Warrenville Horizon to Break Ground in Spring 2020

Warrenville will soon have its first affordable independent senior living community. The Alden Foundation, a developer of affordable senior housing, will break ground in the spring of 2020 on a 71-unit, three-story independent living community on Batavia Road, west of Butterfield Road.

“This is exactly the type of development that Warrenville needs to keep seniors in our community,” said Mayor Dave Brummel. “The location with views of the DuPage River will be beautiful for senior residents and is convenient to our town center.”

Warrenville Horizon Senior Living Community will offer independent living to seniors age 62 and older in a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments. The building will have an in-town design character and will include many common area amenities for residents, such as a community room, fitness center, game room, library with computers and complimentary WiFi and a theater room.

“The City of Warrenville has been most welcoming and a pleasure to work with,” said Beth Demes, executive director of The Alden Foundation. “We are honored to bring a high-quality senior development to the community.”

The affordable, mixed income community offers rents that will range from $400 to $1200 per month, based on income. The development will be made possible thanks to funding from the Illinois Housing Development Authority and DuPage County. An energy efficiency grant administered by ComEd is also in the mix.

Warrenville Horizon will open in the summer of 2021. A waiting list is being developed now.
