"I've lived here for three years and I am still in awe of our beautiful campus. I enjoy gardening so I have a flower bed outside. Some of the residents grow vegetables. I tell them they can have a bouquet of my flowers if I can have some of their tomatoes. I take walks every day in good weather. Lately, I've been walking by the waterfall because the baby swans hatched a week ago. At Christmas, every tree is lit and the grounds are a winter wonderland. I have a nice, sunny apartment. There's a craft room in our building, an exercise room and an activity room where we play bingo and have movies every Friday night. We have a bus that takes us around to stores, and my children live close by and come to visit me. And everyone is so friendly. I can't imagine a nicer place to live."

“The convenience of the WiFi technology at Alden Estates of Barrington is wonderful. During my stay, I was able to access the Internet from anywhere in the building, including the dining room, beauty salon and even my own room. It was nice to know that I could get online at anytime and communicate with my sons who live in Texas and Pennsylvania.”

"My husband, who had a stroke and now has a tracheotomy, has been a patient since March 2007. When he came here, the staff went out of their way to make him feel at ease and comfortable. Nurses and other staff now stop by his room to chat, share stories about their families and talk sports. In a way, the staff has become like a second family to my husband. They take care of him when I cannot be here and the nurses do an excellent job of keeping me informed about how he is doing. I am grateful that he has people who genuinely care about him."

“My husband was a stroke victim and benefited greatly from the staff's expertise. When he arrived at the facility, his ability to walk, talk and perform the basics of everyday personal care was very limited. In a matter of only a few days at Alden, I saw an improvement in his physical abilities and mental attitude. The staff gave him hope, trust and care. His progress was remarkable, almost unbelievable. Our family was in awe as each day presented a new and wonderful step in his road to recovery. We are so grateful to the staff. Their care and concern was above and beyond the norm. Their treatment was unsurpassed and we appreciate the effort and kindness everyone showed in his everyday care."

“In the 10 years that I have worked for Alden, I have come to feel as though I am part of a team and a family. Our development team at Alden Realty Services creates and manages outstanding residences and lifestyles for seniors. It is so gratifying to see each new facility filled with satisfied seniors who are enjoying a social life and a beautiful home. Alden owners take pride in welcoming employees into their 'family' and being accessible as well as open to new ideas that will improve our residents’ lives. For me, Alden is the only choice.”

“The choice to become a nurse was an easy one. I always had a desire to help others. After working in hospitals for a while, I noticed that I really enjoyed working with seniors. So, seven years ago, I came to Alden and couldn’t be happier with my choice. I get to work with a population that I enjoy and I get to teach the nursing staff new ways to help our patients and residents. I really feel lucky because I know every member of my team cares about our patients and residents, which makes my job so enjoyable.”

"I began working at Alden 25 years ago because of my love of the elderly and my wish to help the disabled. Little did I know that I would find my second family. In the past, many people have touched my life. The staff at Alden Estates of Naperville has bonded over the years and we are a family with the same goals — to care for and improve the lives of our residents. Residents are our first priority. My mother moved to Alden Estates of Naperville nine years ago and describes it as a fine hotel to anyone who will listen to her. I love the fact that in long-term care, residents become part of my life and friendships continue long after they leave to go home. I truly have a blessed life."

"Growing up in a family business has been not only very rewarding, but a very educational experience for me. I have watched my father, Floyd Alden Schlossberg build our company from the ground up; in the beginning it was just my father, my mother Ina and Joan Carl. Today, Alden has grown to over 4,000 valued employees who we refer to as our ‘Alden’ family. Although we have grown to be a trusted provider in many local communities, we are still truly viewed as a family business and one team. Our development group here at "Alden" designs, develops and manages independent senior housing, assisted living and memory care assisted living. Developing these facilities has been extremely gratifying for me. Working with our creative teams, collaborating wonderful ideas and watching a vision go from paper to project to reality has become the "Alden" way. The outcomes of these visions are beautiful developments for our seniors as well as the rest of our residents.
"We have been serving the needs of seniors for over 37 years, and we are just getting started. We are introducing new projects and locations all the time, we believe seniors are not a market opportunity but vital individuals who still have much to contribute and deserve the best possible surroundings and care. I love what we do and I love being part of Alden, being able to serve our current and future residents by providing the best residential and long-term care anywhere. It is what we call the 'Alden way.'"

“The new Alden Estates of Barrington is one of the finest rehabilitation and health care centers in Chicagoland. We are happy that Alden decided to completely renovate the building and invest in our community. It is a nice addition to our business community and indicates the vibrant growth in the city.”

"I love working with seniors. I myself am an 'early senior', and God willing, I will be in as nice a place as Alden of Waterford one day."
